Winning International Group was founded in 2002 by Mr. Sun Xiushun and is headquartered in Singapore. It is a diversified multinational enterprise operating across regions and industries, with businesses spanning ship owning, shipping operations, maritime logistics, ship management, mining development, as well as the construction and operation of railways and ports. With branches in China, Indonesia and Guinea, the Group provides integrated sea-land transport and logistics solutions for bauxite, iron ore and general cargo to clients around the world, with an annual cargo volume approaching 100 million tonnes.
As one of the world’s leading carriers of seaborne bauxite, Winning operates and manages a fleet of 150 vessels, including 61 self-owned Capesize bulk carriers, with a total deadweight capacity exceeding 12 million tonnes. In Guinea, the Group has built a comprehensive and highly efficient offshore transshipment system, comprising 15 large floating cranes, four Floating Transfer Units (FTUs), and nearly 250 barges, tugboats, bunker vessels and floating docks, enabling annual offshore transshipment capacity to exceed 100 million tonnes. To advance energy conservation and emissions reduction, Winning is currently constructing sixteen 325,000-DWT WinningMax-class ore carriers, which are designed to significantly reduce energy consumption per tonne-mile and feature a methanol-ready design.
In 2015, Winning International Group, together with China’s Shandong Weiqiao Group, Guinea’s UMS and Shandong Port Group’s Yantai Port Group, jointly established the SMB–Winning Consortium, officially launching large-scale bauxite development in Guinea. After years of steady progress, the SMB–Winning Consortium has grown into Guinea’s largest bauxite producer, with annual exports ranking among the highest in the world, contributing significantly to Guinea’s rise as one of the world’s foremost bauxite-producing and exporting nations. To ensure long-term stable operations, the Consortium invested USD 1.2 billion to build the 125-kilometre Dapilon-Santou Railway — Guinea’s first modern railway in half a century — with an annual transport capacity of 52 million tonnes. At present, the AMC project has been completed and has achieved its first shipment, while the groundbreaking ceremony for the 1.2-million-ton alumina refinery has been successfully held, further advancing the Consortium’s integrated industrial development.
Building on its extensive experience and solid industrial foundation, Winning International Group and Shandong Weiqiao once again joined hands to establish Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS). With the support of the Guinean government, WCS is participating alongside China Baowu, Rio Tinto and Chinalco in the development of the world’s largest greenfield mining project — the Simandou Iron Ore Project. This world-class project contains open-pit iron ore resources with an average grade of 65.5%, among which Blocks 1 and 2, with reserves exceeding 1.8 billion tonnes, are jointly developed by WCS and China Baowu. To establish an export corridor, the project completed the construction of the 630-kilometre Trans-Guinean Railway, linking the mining area to Morebaya Port in southwestern Guinea. The port has completed four high-efficiency barge loading berths, each capable of loading 12,000 tonnes per hour. In the future, this infrastructure will provide an annual transport capacity of 120 million tonnes for both the WCS and Simfer mining zones, ensuring robust logistical support for full-scale production. On 11 November 2025, the Simandou Project achieved first ore, and its maiden shipment of iron ore was transported by a Winning-owned bulk carrier from Guinea to China.
